Bill Cowher delivered the commencement address Friday morning at Duquesne University. Before his speech, Cowher was a guest on the Big K Morning Show.

The Pittsburgh native and Hall of Fame coach spoke to Liberal Arts graduates and also received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Duquesne.

Cowher has a connection with the university, telling Larry and Marty the two most influential people in his life, his father Laird, and Dan Rooney, both studied at Duquesne.

Dan graduated in 1950, Laird in 1951.

“One year they walked that same campus and it’s going to be a true honor today to be able to go back and give the commencement speech to the graduates of Liberal Arts College at Duquesne this morning,” Cowher said shortly before giving the speech.

Cowher said his message was about the need for leaders who send the right messages. More than 1340 students are graduating from Duquesne in seven ceremonies this week.
