PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Bars and restaurants were caught off-guard last Tuesday when the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced cocktails to-go were illegal to serve.
"I don't want to say it caught them by surprise, because they're almost used to that now, because throughout the pandemic they were always given the last minute word from the state that they couldn't do something," said Chuck Moran, executive director of the Pennsylvania Licensed Beverage and Tavern Association, during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Monday.
The bill that would permanently allow cocktails to-go is currently being held up in the senate, after some details were added.
Moran said the hold up was caused by ready-to-drink cocktails.
"When that was inserted into House Bill 1154 by the senate, that's where the problem started," Moran said. "Some people viewed that as a step toward privatization of our state stores, and that drew a veto threat from the governor's office."
