Brashear HS fight victim recovering from concussion, says family member

The victim of last week's assault at Brashear High School is having nightmares, screaming in his sleep as he recovers from injuries including a concussion.

18-year-old student Quincey Garland is charged with aggravated assault after a video incident showing the 17-year-old teen being thrown to the floor and someone stomping on his head.

Eric Pettus, a cousin of the victim, tells NewsRadio KDKA's Marty Griffin his cousin was attacked by Garland three times before last week's incident.

"School is completely aware of it. It's just a colossal failure to follow their own policies, state law," said Pettus. "It is a miracle in and of itself that he is alive."

Brashear's principal is on administrative leave during an investigation.
