The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership reports about 77,000 people are coming to the Golden Triangle a day, which is about 55% of February 2019 levels.

CEO Jeremy Waldrup says the trend line is going up and people are returning to restaurants, theatres and to work.

“We are starting to see some significant turnaround and welcoming employees back from some of our major employers downtown. We expect to see that happen for the remainder of 2022.”

He says local tourism is also sowing a strong resurgence, seeing 79% of pre-pandemic levels.

Waldrup also said a big part of the growth is Hamilton’s 3-week, 24 show run at the Benedum Center.

“It brought thousands of people to downtown Pittsburgh and that’s a real shot in the arm for the hundreds of restaurants that call downtown home. That’s resulted in businesses opening for additional days of the week.”
