Candidate for governor Bill McSwain hopes to cut state gas tax in half

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Candidate for Pennsylvania Governor Bill McSwain released his plan to permanently cut the state gas tax in half on Wednesday.

"Gas tax is essentially a gimmick that has been used to fund all sorts of different things that should come out of the general fund," McSwain said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Thursday. "We don't need a gimmick gas tax."

Pennsylvania's gas tax is the highest in the nation.
