Four Pittsburgh catholic schools moved to remote learning after COVID surge

PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh has announced that they will be transition four schools to remote learning due to COVID-19.

Each of the four schools are elementary schools and the extension of remote learning will now last until next week.

The schools being transitioned to remote learning are:

Butler Catholic School, will return Tuesday, Jan. 18

Sacred Heart School, will return Tuesday, Jan. 18

Mary of Nazareth, will return Wednesday, Jan. 19

St. Therese School, already remote learning will now return Tuesday Jan. 18.

The move comes due to a large increase in COVID cases or COVID-related staffing issues.

Parents of students in the schools have been notified of the procedures.

“The members of our school communities have shown great patience, creativity and care as we

all strive to protect students, staff and their families from the COVID virus,” said Michelle

Peduto, director of schools for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. “Their health is our priority.”

Not only are classes being moved to a remote setting, but schools are also cancelling extracurricular activities.

The Butler Catholic Science Fair has been changed to a virtual event.
