A former corrections officer was arrested for bringing drugs into the Allegheny County Jail.
34-year-old Raymond Toomey had been a corrections officer at the jail since December of 2019.
An internal investigation revealed that suspected synthetic cannabinoids, or K2, was found inside the jail, and police allege that Toomey was paid to deliver the drugs into the jail to an inmate.
Toomey, who resigned on December 12th of this year, is charged with contraband, criminal conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver.
They also found money on Toomey for the deliveries as well as a "burner" phone to coordinate contraband payment and pickup.
He was in the Allegheny County jail awaiting arraignment, until being released on recognizance with a preliminary hearing set for January 9th.
County Police will also be filing similar criminal charges against the involved inmate and another individual.
Toomey has also spent time with the Pittsburgh Police before a video surfaced that showed him kneeing and kicking a man during an arrest in 2017.
