Two years have gone past since the disappearance Shaler area woman, Janet Walsh.
Shaler Police Chief Sean Frank said the case continues to impact the community deeply.
"It's heartbreaking," he said. "It's a community member of ours. Even though it's family member of the Walsh's, she's one of our community members, and we would really like a resolution to this case."
On January 28, Allegheny County Police issued a press release about a missing 70-year-old in Shaler Township. Walsh's daughter said she was meeting her mother for dinner that evening.
When she got to her mother's house, Walsh and her vehicle were not there. Her cell phone was inside the house as well. Walsh's daughter tried calling friends to try and find her, but to no avail. That's when she contacted Shaler Police.
Frank said one of the strangest aspects of this case is that investigators can't find Walsh's car.
"In a lot of cases, there's technology out there, even with the brand of car, there's technology in the car that you'd be able to find it with GPS," he said. "All of that is not available, which is the big mystery here. Where did this vehicle go? It just vanished."
Walsh is described as a white female, approximately 5-foot-3 inches tall with blonde hair and hazel eyes. Her vehicle is described as a silver 2018 Chevrolet Trax in color PA registration KTW 6007.
Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the Allegheny County Police Tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (1-833-255-8477); callers can remain anonymous. The department can also be reached via its social media sites.
