PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Police have provided an update on the investigation into the death of Peter Spencer.

Spencer is the man from Pittsburgh who was shot and killed while camping in Venango County late last year.

His family has gone public with their frustration over the pace of the investigation.

The District Attorney's office released a statement on Tuesday as an update to the shooting death of Spencer.

The office says the investigation shows that the shooting was justified by way of self-defense or the defense of others under the Castle Doctrine, and no charges will be filed.

Spencer's family has said there was drugs, alcohol, and guns found at the scene and four people were detained following his death, but no arrests.

According to police, Spencer had an Ak-47 and was firing the gun into the air while at the campsite.

Police went on to say Spencer aimed the AK at another person who opened fire back at Spencer.

Spencer was struck nine times in the back, chest, and neck.
