PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Some local markets and turkey farms have already stopped taking orders for fresh turkeys ahead of this Thanksgiving, saying demand quickly outpaced supply.
Pounds Turkey Farm in Leechburg hasn't accepted orders since early last week, but it's not because of supply chain issues.
Manager Beverly Pounds says orders came in earlier and quicker than usual.
"Made us very nervous in terms of how are the sizes running, do we truly have grade A turkeys to fill all of these orders, so that's when we determined to stop take any additional orders to be sure we could fill everything that had already been placed," said Pounds.
She hopes the farm will be able to start taking orders again Monday.
