With the Monroeville convention center set to close June 1 and lease half of the space to Hobby Lobby, officials learned Tuesday that the adjacent Double Tree closed Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Mayor Nick Gresock told Robb Pratt that this hits hard.
“This is a terrible situation for Monroeville and it certainly highlights how important the convention center is for Monroeville,” said Gresock.
With more than 6,000 rooms rented each year based on events at the convention center, this wasn't surprise.
Mayor Gresock says he's more determined than ever to save the convention center
