Duquesne Light has reached a tentative three year agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 29.
A strike was authorized by the IBEW on Tuesday night. 850 of its 1400 members are Duquese Light employees, and their contract with Duquesne Light was set to expire on Saturday.
Duquesne Light said in a statement that both sides bargained in good faith.
The utility company stated that the agreement resolves matters such as wage adjustments, retirement benefits, workforce rejuvenation, and investments while preserving existing healthcare coverage and benefits for its members.
Terms of the agreement are subject to a ratification vote by local 29 union members which will occur early next week.
