According to Associated Press, at 10:18 p.m. through 20.65% of the votes, Gainey holds a 71.5% to 28.5% lead over Republican Tony Moreno.

Multiple sources have projected Gainey as Pittsburgh’s next Mayor, including CNN.

Gainey himself has declared victory over Moreno as the next Mayor of Pittsburgh at his election party at the Benedum Center.

Regardless of the outcome of the election, it was going to be a historic night for the City of Pittsburgh.

With Gainey’s victory, he becomes the first Black mayor in the history of Pittsburgh.

Had Moreno come out on top, he would have become the first Republican Mayor of Pittsburgh since 1933.

Moreno tells News Radio KDKA he is not conceding, but addressed his supporters at his election night party.

He has not called Gainey.
