PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) A former Elizabeth Borough Police Chief was indicted by a federal grand jury for stealing evidence.
According to the Department of Justice, Timothy Butler Jr.
of Finleyville is being charged with one count for theft of government property.
Butler is being charged with stealing evidence from the Elizabeth Borough Police Department's evidence locker.
According to a release, Butler stole upwards of $1,000 worth of heroin from the locker for his own personal use.
The law states that the maximum sentence cannot be more than 10 years in prison, a fine cannot exceed $250,000, or both.
Under sentencing guidelines, the actual imposed sentence will also be based on the seriousness of the offense or prior criminal history.
