
A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Monday through 8 p.m. on Friday with dangerous temperatures forecasted all week.
A heatwave this intense is uncommon for June. High heat normally doesn’t come around our area until mid-July.
And, don’t expect much of a break in the heat from rainfall as we go through this week.
AccuWeather meteorologist Heather Zehr tells the Big K Morning Show while there isn’t a zero percent chance of rain, most of the days will dry with some places not seeing a single drop of rain through the week.
High temperatures will be in the 90s over the next five to seven days.
The low temperatures overnight will only get down to the mid-70s so there will be little relief when the sun goes down.
Along with the humidity, heat indexes could reach 105 or higher at times and with the lack of rain, the National Weather Service say “rapid onset drought” is possible in some places.
Pittsburgh, along with much of the Midwest and Northeast are under an “extreme” heat risk throughout the week.
