Wednesday is Chief Justin McIntire Day in the Highlands School District.
Last year on January 2, Brackenridge lost their long-time Police Chief.
Justin McIntire was shot and killed pursing a man who'd been running from police.
McIntire was pursuing 28-year-old Aaron Swan when the suspect shot and killed him, in what would later be described by law enforcement as an ambush.
Swan then shot and injured a Tarentum officer just blocks away.
He was killed later that day in Lincoln-Lemington in a shootout with police.
A plaque honoring him will be unveiled in the evening followed by a service at Brackenridge Memorial Park.
