The family of a 15-year-old boy killed in a shooting at a haunted hayride last month is begging for answers about his death.
Steven Eason was looking forward to getting his driver's license and a job at Taco Bell in Penn Hills, according to his mother Shantel Pizaro.
The Central Catholic High School student wanted to go to college and recently took a trip to Slippery Rock University.
"He was learning responsibility, excited about his future," Pizaro said. "He had so many goals. He was a child with so much passion and dreams to look forward to."
Instead, Eason's life was cut tragically short when he was shot and killed at Haunted Hills Hayride in North Versailles Sept. 11.
A Penn Hills High School student was also injured in the shooting.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and Allegheny County Police are still looking for witnesses and cell phone video of the incident.
Friday, Pizaro and other members of Eason's family gathered outside Allegheny County Police headquarters to ask those who know something to come forward.
"It's hard to sleep and get any rest when my son is gone," Pizaro said through tears. "It's hard to be able to heal. I can't even start my healing process when the person who did this to my son is still walking freely."
According to Allegheny County Police, Eason and a group of friends were at the Haunted Hills Hayride the night of the shooting. Eason saw one of his friends in a confrontation with the suspect and went to go help. The suspect pulled a gun and shot Eason and his friend, then ran from the scene.
"You hurt a lot of people," Pizaro said when asked what she wants to say to her son's killer. "It's not right. It's not okay. Continuing down a path of destruction, you're destroying your own life. You're destroying other people's lives with these tragic moves that are being made. Just come forward."
Allegheny County Police described the suspect as a slender Black male around six feet tall and between 15 and 17-years-old.
