A former Clairton volunteer fire official is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from department accounts.
Police say Joseph Massaro is accused of taking nearly $37,000 from the Clairton Volunteer Fire Department while managing its finances.
Investigators allege the money was spent over time on online and retail purchases, credit card payments, and ATM withdrawals.
Officials say Massaro admitted to some of the spending, telling investigators some transactions were mistakes and others went toward family medical expenses.
He faces charges including theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and misappropriation of entrusted property.
