With the start of the Lenten season just around the corner and as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the Allegheny County Health Department on Wednesday reminded area fish fries that in addition to needing a permit to operate in the county, they must also follow COVID-19 safety rules.
Those rules include:
• Indoor capacity restriction of 50% for those that completed the state's self certification process; 25% for those that haven't
• Outdoor seating must have two open sides
• Employees must wear face masks at all times; customers must wear them when not seated at their table
• Social distancing of at least 6 feet is required
• Alcohol can only be served with food and all alcohol sales must end by 11pm, consumption by 12am
Fish fries are encourages to utilize takeout and as well as online or phone ordering processes. Permits applications and fees are due no later than February 12.
Lent begins on February 17 and ends on April 3. Easter is April 4.
