Flood waters close several roads in the Pittsburgh area

PennDOT has announced the closure of several roads due to flood in the Pittsburgh area after heavy rains.

Inches of rain have fallen in in the area and more is expected Tuesday evening.

Several streams and creeks have flooding causing issues on roads all around the area.

The following state roads are currently closed:

Allegheny County

Northbound Route 837 under the Duquesne-McKeesport Bridge in the City of Duquesne – Closed

Bull Creek Road (Route 1034) between Metz Road and Ridge Road in Fawn Township – Closed

Streets Run Road (Route 2046) between Brentwood Road and Glass Run Road in the City of Pittsburgh - Closed

Verona Road (Route 2058) between Mt. Carmel and Lincoln Road in the Municipality of Penn Hills – Closed

McKee Road (Route 3103) between Route 978 and Crossroads Drive in Oakdale Borough – Closed

Reis Run Road (Route 4022) at the intersection with Rochester Road in Ross Township – Closed

The “Bathtub” section of the Parkway East is expected to closed Wednesday morning around 10 a.m.

The corridor will close to traffic earlier, according to PennDOT

Beaver County

North Camp Run Road (Route 1011) near Route 288 in Franklin Township – lane restriction

Brush Creek Road (Route 1019) between Melon Road and Powell Road in New Sewickley Township - Closed

Duss Avenue (Route 2011) in Baden Borough – lane restriction

Lovi Road (Route 2006) near Route 989 in New Sewickley Road - Closed

Lawrence County

Old Plank Road (Route 1003) between Woodland Drive and Oakwood Way in Neshannock Township - Closed

Stay Safe

Drivers should not drive through water. When its raining keep your wipers and lights on.

"Anyone who drives around barriers intended to close a road can face increased penalties and fines up to $500 if emergency responders are called to rescue motorists who disregard traffic control signs," PennDOT said in a release.
