PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) A Georgia man allegedly involved in a bail bond scam targeting people in Allegheny County has been arrested.

The Allegheny County Sheriff's office says 48-year-old Richard Wayne Long is accused of posing as a sergeant from the sheriff's office and calling health care workers telling them they failed to appear in court.

It is reported that Long would say they would have to appear as a witness or face consequences of fines or jail time.

A few people met a man believed to be Long at a Downtown bail bonds agency and gave him over $10,000 in one instance, over $20,000 in another.

Long is charged with multiple felongy counts of theft by deception, theft by extortion and two counts of impersonating a public servant.

Long was reportedly in Pittsburgh from July 11 to July 20 and has since been arrested.

He will be extradited to Allegheny County.
