The Get Marty: Community Bridges series is made possible with the support of UPMC.
It's something we're hearing more about as we learn more about the coronavirus and how COVID-19 impacts people.
The nickname you hear for some of these men and women is "long-hauler." For them, the effects are long-lasting and they can vary from person to person.
UPMC has now launched the Post COVID-19 Recovery Clinic to help people deal with those symptoms and to learn from these patients.
Dr. Michael Risbano is the director of UPMC's Advanced Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing Program. In the video on this page, he talks with me about the clinic and the work they're doing to help patients recover.
Some of the reported symptoms include:
• Brain fog
• Difficulty breathing
• Loss of sense of smell
• Fatigue
Because the symptoms are different for many people, the Post COVID-19 Recovery Clinic helps develop a treatment plan and coordinates with other UPMC specialists to get people the care they need.
