Since our last update with Jaycee Amick, she's had to resume treatment at UPMC Children's Hospital. Today she's heading back there with her mother for tests and chemotherapy. While all of that sounds daunting, you wouldn't know it by her spirit.
Watch the video on this page to see my attempt to sing a Christmas song with her and find out how she's doing along with her mom, Marci.
It hasn't been easy on Marci, but she doesn't complain. She'll tell you she's just thankful her "little miracle" is still fighting. At one point doctors didn't think she would make it to see her 13th birthday. That was back in July.
You know the saying “It takes a village…”, well that’s what happened here for this beautiful young girl battling brain cancer. Just about everyone in her community of Vandergrift came out to celebrate a day her mom feared she wouldn’t live to see.
While Jaycee continues to fight, there's a new mission. She was so happy with the thousands of birthday cards sent from caring people around the world that she's now asking for a bit of a repeat, this time with Christmas cards.
It’s been a tough week for little Jaycee Amick. Since we last caught up with her she’s started a new round of chemotherapy aimed at blasting the cancer that’s attacking her brain and her spine.
They learned a lesson from the birthday cards. Not only did it overload their mail carrier, it became a bit too much to handle for their mailbox. This time around there is a Post Office Box setup:
Jaycee Amick
P.O. Box 587
Worthington, PA 16262
Now let's see what kind of Christmas joy we can bring to this little angel!
