This is one of our favorite things we do because of the way people react to the sweets from Oakmont Bakery. It's time for another Cake Walk and this time bakery owner Marc Serrao is on the road with me for the big reveal.
Watch the video on this page to see the amazing cake he put together for a Vietnam War veteran who has struggled with health issues since his service ended. This is Hal Shaffer's Cake Walk!

It wasn't just Marc and me on this adventure. My buddy Jimmy Clare who's also a retired Marine and Thomas Rezak, who nominated his buddy Hal for the Cake Walk.

Harold "Hal" Shaffer is now 74 years old and has fought many other battles with his health including thyroid cancer, prostate cancer, lymphoma, and now lung cancer. As he continues to fight, we learned there was still one thing missing from his service to our country, his U.S. Marine Corps dress blues. Back in his day soldiers had to buy them and he was never able to get them.

Well, we weren't going to let that wrong stand. They're on the way thanks to the help of Pennsylvania State Senator Jim Brewster (D), though I honestly hope that Hal won't be wearing that uniform anytime soon. They will be there for him when he's eventually laid to rest.
What an amazing man, surrounded by an amazing family and amazing friends that still includes people from his old unit. Truly heartwarming, and I'm honored to share a simple slice of cake with them.
