Giant Eagle has launched its spring hunger relief initiative - the Full Plates, Zero Waste register donation campaign.
KDKA Radio spoke with spokesperson Janna Drexler about the campaign.
"It gives us a chance to engage with our team members, engage with our customers, and really raise not only funds, but awareness for a really good cause which is really supporting hunger relief and fighting that food insecurity right here in our region," she said.
She said that customers and team members will be invited to make donations at checkout at any Giant Eagle.
"Even a $1 donation goes really far in the hands of the Food Bank. In the Pittsburgh region, every dollar donated will either go to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank or Westmoreland Food Bank," she added.
The campaign running through May 20th, invites customers to make donations of any amount at checkout, with proceeds benefiting 14 food banks.
In 2025, donations from the campaign raised nearly $4 million.
