A GoFundMe is underway to help support a Pittsburgh-area school resource officer after a serious crash led to severe injuries.
Scott Bailey of Kerr Elementary School in Fox Chapel was injured a month ago after an off-road, side-by-side, vehicle he was a passenger in rolled multiple times in a wooded area.
Bailey’s right hand was severely injured and “his thumb as basically severed.”
He also sustained internal bleeding and needed to be transported to the hospital via medical helicopter.
Bailey was eventually discharged after spending three days on a ventilator in the ICU but was quickly back in the hospital with a blood clot in his lung.
According to the GoFundMe, Officer Bailey is back home but is unsure how long his recovery will take.
“This is causing Officer Bailey much financial anxiety, as we all know, he works CONSTANTLY!!!!,” the campaign says. “He has been a police officer for 32 years! He currently works full time as a Fox Chapel School Resource Officer and part time at Aspinwall Police Department.”
Anyone that is able to help Officer Bailey and his family can donate HERE.
