Donations to southwestern PA Goodwill stores hurt by recent winter storms

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania says it is in urgent need of donations.

Michael Smith, the organization's President and CEO, tells KDKA Radio's Lynn Hayes Freeland that the recent snowfall and cold weather has had a detrimental impact on donations to local stores.

"Just in the last couple of weeks with all the snow and the slower traffic, our donations dropped about 25%," he said. "That can add up to about 8,000 donations that we're not receiving."

Goodwill is asking the public to make a special effort to donate gently used clothing, shoes and housewares to their nearest Goodwill store.
