Gov. Wolf on budget proposal: 'About a third of Pennsylvanians actually pay more'

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Amid Republican opposition, Governor Tom Wolf continues to defend his budget proposal.

“40% of Pennsylvanians actually get a tax cut with this proposal,” Wolf said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show. “About a third of Pennsylvanians actually pay more.”

The budget proposal, introduced last week, aims to give Pennsylvania public schools a boost through an increased flat personal income tax rate.

The proposal has faced criticism from the GOP-led State legislature, who believe the tax increase would be too costly and hurt workers recovering from the pandemic.
