On the NewsRadio KDKA morning show, Governor Tom Wolf was asked about the status of his proposal to send $2,000 payments to most Pennsylvanians:

“People need this right now with everything that’s been going on.
The Commonwealth has the capacity to actually help out. It’s going to help people pay bills, with higher bills that they’re paying, and we can certainly afford it.”

Those checks were not featured in the governor's budget but he says he reintroduced the idea in a bill called the Pennsylvania Opportunity Fund, for households making less than $80,000 a year.

“I first proposed the PA Opportunity Program back in February, but Republican leaders in the General Assembly just wouldn’t get on board with funding it in this year’s budget,” said Gov. Wolf.
