A Chicago woman is facing charges after police in Westmoreland County say she stole a check from an assisted living facility, altered it and cashed it.
Greensburg police, along with County Detectives, launched an investigation after being contacted by Redstone Highlands in January about a stolen check in the amount of $5,400.
The check was mailed to a bank in Chicago, but never made it.
Police discovered the check appeared to be altered to be paid to the order of Tamika Johnson and was deposited mobile in January.
Johnson is now facing charges of theft and receiving stolen property.
