A Chinese restaurant and sushi bar in Southwestern PA had several health violations reported after a health inspection Thursday.
The PA Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety services program says Dragon Restaurant on Clearview Circle in Butler had five violations reported, ruling the eatery “out of compliance”.
An inspection showed a possible rodent infestation with “rodent harborage areas inside the food facility.”
In the back-right area of the dry storage area, 20 to 30 rodent droppings were found along with an open box of soup spoons, a bog of dried mushrooms with a hole in the side of the back. Those items were thrown away.
The report says the facility has a pest control program, with the last visit in mid-April.
Other issues include non-food contact surfaces not being cleaned frequently, bamboo and wood steam bowls being used to serve customers (bowls are not permitted to be used because they are not smooth), and the employee bathroom did not have a self-closing door.
The restaurant has until May 17 to correct the violations and is able to continue operating during that time.
