Not all holiday gifts need to come from a big box store or online.

Local fairs and other events support local business owners and organizations.

Wreaths, jewelry and cosmetics are just some of the things you can find at events at fire halls, assisted living facilities and other places hosting shows this holiday season.

Amanda Hart, owner of Heartfelt Fare operates out of the South Hills.

Her cookies, fudge and other treats are beginning to gain attention.

She is able to get her name out there while supporting her community.

“I’m doing one at Dormont Elementary School, it’s like their winter carnival, so it’s for the students to go and pick out their presents and just have a fun little night and that money goes toward the school,” said Hart.

While she is able to make a little bit of money at events like the school, she knows they will be used as gifts, so she doesn’t make as many cookies and will throw in homemade hot coco mix and sell at a decent price.

Amanda is currently offering cookies trays and other treats for the holiday season.

Order cutoff for the holidays is December 17.
