Health experts say over 99% of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. are of the Omicron variant, replacing Delta in just five weeks.
The U.S. government says Eli Lilly's and Regeneron's monoclonal antibody treatments were effective against Delta, but ineffective against Omicron.
On Tuesday, the U.S. FDA pulled its authorization of the remedies.
"We've got a feeling in our gut, as professionals, that this is still working. Maybe it's not quite as effective, but if it helps, it helps. If not, so be it. At least it's one more arrow in our quiver. I just hate to see all this medicine sitting in refrigerators not getting used," said Adam Rice, owner of Olympus Infusions in Pleasant Hills.
He also said he is waiting to see peer-reviewed data to see if the treatment is truly ineffective against Omicron.
