In an exclusive interview on the Big K Morning Show, we learned new hires are paid $45,000 a year. Attorney Bill Difenderfer says that's the reason the DA's office is 12 attorneys short.

“(The DA’s office) is going around to job fairs, trying to get talented lawyers has, and this is shocking, zero applicants,” said Difenderfer.

A short time later, Jen Liptak, Chief of Staff for the County Executive, called in to take exception.

“I find it very disrespectful to say that our public defender’s office, who’s been very successful under the leadership of Matt Dugan can’t find employees because they do and we’re getting great employees and we’re very proud of the work that they’re doing and we are fully staffed over there,” said Liptak.

Liptak says the county has made an offer to the attorneys union and is waiting for a response
