Judge rejects request to dismiss 3 charges against former Pirates pitcher Vazquez

A judge has rejected a request from former Pirates pitcher Felipe Vazquez to dismiss three charges against him related to sexual contact he allegedly had with a then 13-year-old.

The Tribune Review reports Vazquez’s lawyers claim the accuser told the former reliever she was almost an adult when they had sexual activity together.

Vazquez is currently being held in a Westmoreland County prison without bond for having sexual contact with the Scottsdale girl. The two reportedly shared explicit photos with other along with text messages going back to 2017 until 2019, when he was arrested.

Police say Vazquez had sexual contact with the girl before a Pirates game in August on 2017.

Vazquez is charged with unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault of a person less than 16 and corruption of minors.

The trail is set to begin sometime this spring.
