PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Pittsburgh's most famous amusement park will be getting an old friend back in its ride lineup start in the summer of 2022.
Kennywood announced recently that the popular Kangaroo ride that was taken out following the 2020 season, will be returning after a year long absence.
The ride is called the Kangaroo and Kennywood's mascot is named Kenny the Kangaroo, so it didn't make sense to take it out in the first place.
Regardless of meaning, the ride is coming back will be taking on a new, but old look.
When it was announced the ride would be returning, Kennywood put up a poll and allowed fans to vote on the designs for its return.
The vintage design won by a wide margin, receiving 80% of the nearly 12,000 votes.
It's a perfect storm for the family favorite ride's return.
Kennywood is loaded with vintage attractions and designs, and of course the namesake of the local legend mascot.
