A local sushi restaurant has passed reinspection after several customer complaints and reports of people getting sick.

The Allegheny County Health Department sent an inspector on Tuesday to Sushi Bomb in The Pointe at North Fayette and found 15 violations during the first inspection.

Shrimp was measuring between 105 to 150 degrees. It needs to be maintained at 135.

Cream cheese, crab sticks were temped at 52 degrees and slices of raw salmon and tune were measuring at 46. Temperatures need to be maintained at 41 or lower.

Other high-risk issues include “mold-like substance” build up on the soda machine, cutting board and knives washed without sanitizer, a slicer had old build-up on it and rust and white mold was found on shelves in the walk-in cooler.

Also, the inspector saw an employee handing green onions with their bare hands, using cellphones without washing hands and using gloves without washing hands.

A reinspection on Wednesday found 9 violations, but most of those were low to medium risk.

One high risk violation observed during reinspection was food prep gloves being reused and “multiple” employees using gloves without washing their hands.

The Health Department did not issue a closure or Consumer Alert, but another inspection is scheduled for May 5.
