The Louisville Slugger Museum unveiled a life-size statue of Roberto Clemente Wednesday, on what would have been the Hall-of-Famer's 87th Birthday.
The museum, located in Louisville, KY also unveiled one of Clemente's game-used bats, which will be added to its "Hold a Piece of History" exhibit.

Clemente's sons Luis Clemente and Roberto Clemente Jr. attended Wednesday's event.
Luis Clemente said his father would be touched by his lasting legacy.
"This is the best gift that he can receive that so many years later, everyone still remembers him," he said. "He still is an icon, and he is a great example of how everyone should live their life by giving to others that are in need."
Curator and exhibits director Bailey Mazik, who is also a Pirates fan, said the statue took over two years to complete. It is one of six statues in the museum's lifelike statue collection.
Mazik advocated for the statue since she started working for the museum, wanting to honor Clemente's contributions to baseball and to his community.
"He continues to be the favorite player of people who weren't yet alive to see him play," she said. "He continues to inspire us to serve people near and far. We're hoping that this sculpture will be a small part in continuing the celebration of him."
The museum also partnered with Love The Hungry to pack and send food to Puerto Rico that will feed 7,000 children.
