The farm in Latrobe that was set to host Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour Thursday night is explaining why the show was forced to cancel.
Aleisha Stas, owner of 1846 Farms tells KDKA Radio Bryan’s team told them early Wednesday that due to muddy conditions, they were unable to safety set up a stage for the show.
“Some of the trucks got stuck in the mud and overall it was a safety concern,” said Stas.
Stas says they are devastated because they had been planning for months for the show.
“We did not plant crops this year, we cleared land, we have spent hours and hours and hours . . . to host 20,000 people on our farm,” said Stas.
Stas said they did get some people saying they would be willing to brave the conditions for the show, but it wasn’t the farm’s decision and with how much rain the area has received the early morning storm made the grounds unable to safely support a large stage.
She also says people need to remember they are not a concert venue.
“I think a lot of people have a misconception where you know, when you’re hosting a concert, they think we’re a concert venue and we should be prepared for these kinds of conditions,” said Stas. “We are an active, working farm.”
Stas says there is a possibility that the concert could be rescheduled in the future, but no plans have been released.
Even though Stas says they’re heartbroken by the concert 1846 Farm is excited about the future, taking their barn that was build in 1846 and restoring it into a wedding and events venue along with an Airbnb.
1846 will also continue to be an active farm as well.
“This doesn’t define us . . . this is the life of the American farmer, it truly is,” said Stas. “This is what we deal with every single day no matter how much we prepare or how much we work, mother nature makes the call and it really is the true example of what a farmer deals with every single day.”
