A man accused of stealing an ATM machine from a downtown business on Christmas Eve has been taken into custody.
Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus’ office says 59-year-old Raymond Fields III of Sheraden is facing two bench warrants for not showing up to two preliminary hearings for theft charges and a probation violation from 2022.
On Thursday evening, detectives found a vehicle that belongs to fields on South 18th Street on the South Side.
A woman, determined to be Field’s girlfriend walked into a house on the 2600 block of South 18th Street.
Police converged on the residents and heard the female talking to a male inside.
When police spoke to the woman, she said Fields had been there, but had left.
Detectives searched the home and found a crawl space that led to another residence next door.
Fields was found on the second floor of that address.
He was taken into custody and taken to Allegheny County Jail.
Fields is accused of stealing the ATM from a business on the 900 block of Penn Avenue around 10:15 p.m. on December 24.
