Man dies after falling 41 feet to the ground in West Mifflin

Allegheny County Police were called to the scene of an industrial accident that resulted in the death of a man.

They found a 65-year-old man, who had reportedly fallen off of a catwalk that was 41 feet above the ground around 2:45pm Tuesday at the Duquesne Aggregates plant in the 4800 block of Buttermilk Hollow Road in West Mifflin.


The man, who has been identified as Melvin Long of Clairton, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call their tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.

They have referred the investigation to OSHA.
