Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Westmoreland County.

It happened on Sunday evening, just after 9:30, on the 200 block of Cedar Drive in East Huntington Township.

Troopers responded after reports of gunfire from a complaint.

PA Trooper Steve Limani says that the house was “peppered” with bullets.

While investigating, police game across a man identified as Jim Miller at another residence, who was had an assault rifle on him.

Troopers told Miller to drop the weapon. He instead fired,

Troopers responded by shooting at Miller.

Limani says video and other evidence will determine if Miller was shooting at police.

Miller was hit in the torso, given medical attention and taken to a hospital to be treated.

No other injuries were reported.

Limani says it appears Miller’s injuries are serious and they hope for his full recovery. Limani says it’s early in the investigation, but it appears that he’ll face at least aggravated assault charges.

The Troopers who fired at Miller will be put on automatic administrative leave pending an investigation.
