Bethel Park man stopped with loaded handgun at Pittsburgh International Airport

Allegheny County police confiscated a loaded handgun at Pittsburgh International Airport Monday after it was detected at a security checkpoint.

Transportation Security Administration officers saw the gun during an x-ray at a security checkpoint.


The Bethel Park man said he forgot he had the weapon with him when he was questioned by police.

The 9mm handgun was loaded with two bullets.

On Friday, the TSA caught a woman with a loaded handgun at the airport.

So far this year, 19 guns have been caught by the TSA at Pittsburgh International.

In 2019, 35 guns were caught. Nationally, that number was 4,432.
