PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Just as the number of COVID cases within Allegheny County again start to increase, a pair of Pittsburgh City Officials test positive for the virus.
Both Mayor Ed Gainey and County Executive Rich Fitzgerald have tested positive for COVID-19 and are following CDC guidelines and quarantining at home.
Gainey and Fitzgerald are vaccinated and boosted against the virus; Gainey said he has felt minor symptoms while Fitzgerald has not felt any ill effects.
Fitzgerald took a rapid test that came back positive after he came in close contact with a different positive case.
According to the Mayor's Office, Gainey will be able to fulfill his duties while in isolation.
