A student-athlete who will be throwing for Point Park University after he graduates from Baldwin early next month, has run into an unexpected challenge.

Vincent Broccoli and his family lost their home earlier this month to a house fire that destroyed everything they owned, except the clothes they were wearing.

To help the family, Point Park track and field/cross country coach Tim Creamer is promoting an online fundraiser to help his newest star.

“As his future track and field coach, we immediately preach the family concept and the sense of family with our men and women and we wanted to do something as simple as let’s repost this (Meal Train) page for him,” said Creamer.

Vincent will be competing in the PIAA State Track and Field Championships this weekend and Creamer wants to be able to focus on competing and graduating.

“And help them get some food, get some clothing, get some shoes get a cell phone charger . . . anything that’s needed to help this young man not have the stress and he can still have some kind of sense of normalcy for his last couple weeks,” said Creamer.

“The Broccoli Family are hardworking, kind people who have always been there for others, and now they need their community around them,” the Meal Train fundraiser reads. “Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser.”

With NCAA rules, Creamer says they’re doing everything they can to legally support Vincent and his family.
