Former Olympian and Gibsonia native Meghan Klingenberg takes us behind the scenes at Olympic Games

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - The U.S. women's soccer team did not begin the 2020 Olympic games the way they anticipated, after losing to Sweden 3-0 in their opening match.

Meghan Klingenberg, a Pine-Richland graduate and member of the 2012 U.S. women's soccer team, believes the top-ranked bunch will bounce back.

"It's not a meltdown. I don't think we need to freak out about this, but at the same time, it's definitely not the dream start that USA wanted to have," Klingenberg said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show. "And it's not the revenge that they wanted to get on this team from the 2016 Olympics,"

As the games are just getting started, Klingenberg shared what Olympic life is like off the field.

"Olympic villages are definitely not luxurious. It feels a little bit more like dorm culture in college," the 2015 women's world cup winner said. "Not really many amenities, but of course they're trying to take care of you as best as they can, and there's a lot of people that need care."
