Scott Brady, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania, says a citizen of Mexico who has been living in Aliquippa has been indicted on an illegal re-entry charge by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh.

According to a release from Brady's office, 43-year-old Alberto Jiminez-Sanchez "knowingly re-entered the United States unlawfully and without the consent or permission of the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary of Homeland Security."

Officials believe the man re-entered the country on or around February 4, 2021.

Jiminez-Sanchez could face up to 24 months in prison, a $250,000 fine or both.

The actual sentence imposed will depend upon criminal history and the seriousness of the offense.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
