On Tuesday polls will open in the 2026 midterm election. The presidency isn’t being decided and there’s no race for US Senate in Pennsylvania. But the contests being decided do affect us directly.
For example: Democrats have a majority of just three seats in the Pennsylvania House.
The party with the majority after the election will set the agenda on important issues like legalizing marijuana, data center regulations and regulating skill games.
The results of midterm elections hit closer to home than some voters realize. Voting in local races gives taxpayers a say in the state of the roads, public schools and government spending. It's understandable why voters are tuning out. Campaign attack ads, gridlock in Harrisburg and polarization in Washington are repellent.
But we have one tool to change things. Your vote in the midterm election matters.
