Montour School District to implement hybrid learning model after Thanksgiving

The Montour School District is making some changes to the way students attend school when classes begin after the Thanksgiving holiday as COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County rise.

In a letter to the families and staff, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher Stone said that while cases in Montour have been relatively low, he anticipates the number to increase.

As a result, students in Montour High School and David E. Williams Middle School will report to in-person classes on an alternating schedule. Students will be split into two groups based on their last name and the groups will alternate between in-person earning days and remote learning days.

At this time, Stone says Montour Elementary will continue classes as normal since "cases in elementary schools, including Montour, have been exceptionally low," he wrote.

Parents also have the option to move their kids to full-time remote learning.
