Police have charged a woman in connection with drowning death of her one-year-old son.
Allegheny County Police say 28-year-old Brittany Garrison left her child unattended, in a floatation device, in an above ground swimming pool last July 27, along with a sibling.
Through an investigation, police learned Garrison left the child in the pool and went inside a house with the sibling.
A short time later, the one-year-old was found outside the floatation device, unresponsive.
First Responders performed lifesaving measures and transported the child to a hospital in critical condition. But, the child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Garrison is charged with involuntary manslaughter, endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangerment.
She was taken into custody on Thursday morning.
